The AnIMaL project (in which the letters make a game between the words LIMA and animal) consists of the graphic representation through pen drawings of particular aspects or specific locations of seven districts of Lima.

In the drawings, the project seeks to playfully explore the resources of paper and the act of drawing. Some of the cardboard used has been perforated, stapled, folded and/or wrinkled.

Each piece is double numbered in pencil. The first refers to its turn of completion. The second to the old postal codes, useful in the days before   to electronic messaging.

In the concept of the project it has been wanted to intermingle a long-standing interest  in the processes of our capital focused from the syntax of the cloaks of the Paracas culture, with a growing curiosity for "everything that can be drawn" particularly the animal world with the textures generated by the fur and plumage.

That is why all the pieces that have been mounted on wooden structures (five of the seven pieces presented) are overwritten with the zoological nomenclature established by Carl von Linné (1707-1778) for the different orders, families and genera of the fauna discovered until the end of the 1960s.

The structures have been designed to be manipulated, and like some phrases and terms written at random among the zoological nomenclature, they are inspired by the freedom of free expression, semi or unconscious, and surrealism.

This freedom seeks to be exalted in this set of works, affirming art as a very particular field of knowledge, where the value lies more in questions and free exploration than in answers, method and efficiency.

Thank you very much!
